Killing Roger - March, 2018
John produced a staged reading in March of his latest screenplay entitled Killing Roger, the true story of Life Magazine's coverage of the JFK Assassination in Dallas, 1963.
It seemed every journalist in America was racing to Dallas that infamous day, Friday, November 22, 1963. They all knew what the story was, but no idea what they were looking for. However, it did not take them long. Find the family members of the accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and find a local Dallas businessman named Abraham Zapruder who happened to film the assassination with his 8 millimeter home movie camera. Past their deadline with the clock ticking, and the competition closing fast, somehow, someway, the team from Life Magazine got to both of them first before anyone else.
In our modern day of fake news and alternative facts, it is a stark reminder of a time when just not getting it first, but getting it right - meant everything!
